Scout Monitoring Changelog - August 2024

This blog holds Product and Engineering release notes for APM web/agent updates.

Rails Log Management - BETA

As one of our most requested features, Log Management has been a long time coming, so we’re thrilled to announce that our Logs Beta is out! We’re ready for all the log messages you can throw at us. We’ll even accept “Got here!” and “Doing the thing” log messages, promise we won’t tell.

-Scout Agent context added to every log record

-Visualize your logs and severity counts as they’re streamed in, it’s pretty sweet.

-Find that needle in a Hay(Log?)stack faster than you can type “grep” with our powerful querying functionality.

-Filter by endpoint and request id - connect your endpoint performance and traces to log records

-Logs are built right into the existing Scout you already know and love, just click that fancy new “Logs” tab to get started.

We think we’ve really cooked up something special here. Still, this is a major new feature and we welcome and encourage any feedback. This beta is now available for all direct Ruby on Rails applications, and we’re getting back to work on Python logging as soon as we publish this changelog. (So yes, Python log support is coming soon, as is an option for our Heroku Add-On!)
